Trevarno Organic Day Cream Reviews

Review of Trevarno Organic Day Cream
By Marion P.

The first impression of the labelling of this Trevarno product is that it is unusually dark and exotic in appearance with the maker’s name in purple on a black background. The information on the Trevarno Organic Day Cream is written in white. I was concerned that the contents of Trevarno Organic Day Cream may be heavily perfumed; however, the senses are immediately delighted on removing the lid. The aroma of lavender and geranium together with warmer base notes is a very feminine combination in this Trevarno Day Cream.

The ivory coloured Trevarno face cream is soft to the touch, and when applied to the skin melts with only the lightest of fingertip application. It may be tempting to be somewhat generous in usage as the Trevarno Organic Day Cream smells gorgeous, and feels so comfortable, but this indulgence is not necessary. A small amount, quickly absorbed, leaves the skin feeling fresh, moisturised and comfortable. The fact that Trevarno Skincare range is organically produced adds to the feeling of well-being and harmony with nature. Nourishment for skin and soul!

I used this Trevarno cream as a day cream, and a different specific cream for night application as I have a dry, mature skin. A younger person could, I think, use this Trevarno Organic Day Cream day and night, the lavender having a relaxing effect on the entire person.

Weleda Skin Food Reviews

Review of Weleda Skin Food
By Geri A.

Packaging Weleda Skin Food for dry skin comes in a green tube, which in turn, is packed into a green box. The tube has a white plastic top and I had to pierce the top of the tube with the top part of the white cap in order to extract the cream. This is a good thing because it ensures that it has not been tampered with. The green tube of Weleda Skin Food has white writing on it so it is easy to read. An instruction leaflet comes with the tube and gives more information.

Application The Weleda skin food has a light pleasant smell and the fragrance is created from aromatherapy oils. The cream came out of the tube easily and when I put it onto my skin it was absorbed quickly. It is not oily so it is ideal for wearing at night. It is also good under make-up. The Weleda Skin Food is nourishing and it left my skin feeling smooth and supple. It is especially recommended for dry skin, particularly on the hands, feet and elbows and it is suitable for adults and children.

Ingredients The Weleda skin food cream contains organic ingredients and this gives me confidence. I always find that Weleda products are good for my skin. The skin food contains sunflower seed oil, lanolin, sweet almond oil, beeswax, alcohol, organic pansy, chamomile and calendula. In addition to these ingredients, it contains limonene.

Results I enjoyed using this deeply nourishing Weleda Skin cream and found that it was absorbed into my skin easily, leaving no greasy residue on my skin. I found Weleda Skin Food especially effective on the hands, leaving them smooth and moisturised. It had a light, pleasant fragrance.

Pros: Weleda Skin Food Cream is an intensive, deeply nourishing cream.
· It can be used by both adults and children.
· It leaves the skin feeling smooth and moisturised.
The cream is especially recommended for dry or rough skin.

Cons: Weleda skin food contains a natural substance called limonene which is present in the peel of
citrus fruits but this can cause eye, skin and mucous membrane irritation in some people.
· It also contains alcohol.

Pai Avocado Face Cream Reviews

Review of Pai Avocado & Jojoba Face Cream
By Barbara F.

Packaging The Pai avocado face cream comes in a transparent glass bottle with a gloss white screw top cap.

Application I applied my Pai avocado & jojoba skin cream in the morning and evening after cleansing my face. Pai Avocado Face Cream has a rich creamy texture which was easily to apply and absorbed quickly and evenly. My skin felt nourished, soft and silky. I found the Pai cream to be great as a base, ready for my make-up application in the morning and equally suitable as a cream to use in the evening before bed. It is not a sticky cream, it just feels natural on your skin.

Ingredients The ingredients in Pai Avocado Face Cream are all natural and excellent for the skin. The avocado oil feeds the skin as it is rich in vitamins A D and E, whilst the jojoba oil is a deeply penetrating oil which hydrates and nourishes the skin leaving it soft and supply. The ingredients in this Pai Avocado and Jojoba Face Cream are similar in composition to our skins natural sebum. Additional natural, organic ingredients of geranium water, shea butter, rosemary antioxidant, manuka oil, rose geranium and jasmine give this cream a rich luxuries quality.

Results A most enjoyable cream to experience. The texture of this Pai Avocado Skin Cream is luxuries and my skin felt soft, supple and beautiful. The fragrances all came together to produce a calm, relaxed feeling of well-being.

Pros This Pai Avocado Face Cream is an ethical product.
Suitable for vegans.
Cruelty free.
Made in the UK.

Cons No cons, except, is is a tad too expensive to use as an all over body cream.

Inika Vegan Lipgloss Reviews

Review of Inika Vegan Lipgloss
By Nadine D.

Packaging The Inika Vegan Lipgloss comes in a transparent tube, allowing you to easily see the colour of the lip-gloss, with a black screw top lid and the Inika logo in gold lettering. I was pleased to learn on further research into the brand that as part of Inika’s commitment to the environment, all of their box packaging and paper products are recycled or from sustainable forestry.

Application The texture of the Inika Vegan Lip Gloss is initially quite oily, so glides onto your lips easily. I was impressed by the fact that it did not feel too sticky meaning that my hair did not get stuck to my lips as soon as the wind blew! My lips had a nice texture after using the Inika vegan lipgloss and felt immediately conditioned. The colour lasted from morning until lunchtime so I did not need to reapply too frequently and it maintained a good shine.

Ingredients I was very impressed that Inika managed to formulate a vegan lip-gloss. There are no parabens, petrochemicals, polybutene and artificial colours and they are free from animal-derived ingredients like bees wax and carmine. Inika Vegan lipgloss is made from pure mineral and contains naturally occurring vitamin E to condition your lips.

Results After using the Inika Lip Gloss, my lips definitely feel in better condition and I loved the colour.

Pros: Inika vegan lipgloss moisturises your lips throughout the day.
The colour is long lasting.
Easy to apply.
Great handbag / purse size.

Cons: The initial oily feel upon application took a little while to get used to.
· The taste was very different to other glosses I have tried, but after using for a few days, I did not notice it.

Weleda Wild Rose Facial Toner Reviews

Review of Weleda Wild Rose Facial Toner
By Susan P.

Packaging The
Weleda Wild Rose Facial Toner comes in a transparent glass bottle with a pink label around the outside. The bottle is contained in a pink and while box with gold writing on it. It is a bright, modern and attractive design, and the gold writing makes it look like a luxury product. The whole Weleda facial range is colour coded for ease of use.

Application The
Weleda Rose Toner had a lovely floral scent and was easy to apply with cotton wool. The Weleda Wild Rose facial toner felt soothing and refreshing, not too drying for my combination skin and not too moisturising either. My only criticism is that a spray bottle would have been more convenient and meant that less product is used each time, but it could always be transferred into your own spray bottle.

Ingredients This
Weleda toner does not contain any synthetic fragrances, colours or preservatives, which is great. It contains natural ingredients such as witch hazel, rose extract, and various essential oils used for the fragrance. The Weleda Wild Rose Facial Toner does also contain a small amount of alcohol which may be too drying for very dry skin.

Results This Weleda wild rose facial toner is very effective, has a lovely floral fragrance and does what it is supposed to do. It wasn’t too drying but was refreshing and gently astringent, removing any traces of oil and make up left on the skin after cleansing. This
Weleda Wild Rose Toner removes the last traces of cleanser, and soothes and refreshes the skin leaving it ready for moisturiser to be applied.

Pros: It has a lovely floral rose fragrance
It is soothing and refreshing on the skin
It removes the last traces of cleanser effectively

Cons: It would have been more convenient in a spray bottle
· It may be too drying for very dry skin, due to the alcohol content

Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist Reviews

Review of Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist
By Eva van L.

Packaging The Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist comes in a transparent, plastic bottle with a spray top. The design is minimal but looks nice.

Application The Juice Beauty mist has an orange colour, it smells fresh and absorbs quickly into the skin. The bottle with spray top is very easy in use. I’ve found that the Juice Beauty Hydrating mist can be used for all sorts of purposes, as a toner before your moisturizer (although it does not exfoliate), before or after using a face oil (to make the oil absorb better into the skin), a refreshing treatment during the day (it should be used sparingly, though, when wearing any make-up such as foundation) or as a lotion to remove the last traces of a facial cleanser. The Juice Beauty mist did not irritate or dehydrate my skin; although using a moisturizing cream next to this product is advisable (it is a hydrating mist but obviously does not substitute a day or night face cream).

Ingredients The ingredient list is very impressive; the main ingredients in this Juice Beauty toner are grape and aloe vera juice, known for their hydrating, soothing and beautifying qualities. Further more, the Juice Beauty Hydrating mist contains the three main skin-perfecting vitamins, A (speeds-up cell-turnover), C (protects the skin against free-radicals) and E (moisturizing and healing). Together with the rosehip fruit extract which calms and nourishes sensitive skin, these are the perfect ingredients for a face mist or toner - no matter what skin type you may have. Of course the mist also does not contain any parabens or petrochemicals and the amount of (natural) alcohol in the product is very small.

Results The Juice Beauty hydrator is refreshing and works well as a toner (especially if you add a bit of witch hazel water, which is a great astringent). On a hot summer’s day, after a long flight or drive in a car, the mist is also a perfect revitalizing pick-me up.

Pros: It’s a multiple-purpose product.
It does not cause any irritation or dehydration.
The ingredients are very effective.
It’s suitable for sensitive and dry skin.

Cons: If the mist had come in a brown glass or plastic bottle, the ingredients would be better preserved and protected against UVA/UVB rays. This bottle offers no protection against sunlight, which can damage the ingredients.

John Masters Body Milk Reviews

Review of John Masters Organics Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Milk
By Andrea L.

Packaging John Masters Body Milk came in a trial size 2fl oz / 59 ml burnt orange coloured plastic bottle – presumably to reflect the blood orange theme – with a black plastic screw lid. The bottle did not display a full list of ingredients and as it did not come in box or with a leaflet, I had limited knowledge of its ingredients, other than its ‘12 organic plant extracts & essential oils’ of grapefruit, bourbon vanilla and blood orange which were mentioned on the bottle. It was claimed on the bottle of this John Masters Organics product that the product ‘has a new, improved formula that is absorbed more quickly and provides outstanding moisture and softness’. Somewhat audaciously, the product claimed to ‘create a euphoric scent’.
Performance I was immediately intrigued by the claim that the essential oils in this John Masters Organics Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Milk ‘create a euphoric scent’. To me, this meant a scent which would impart a sense of heightened elation. Could a scent really do this? Well, this one did not. Certainly, it has a pleasant, unusual scent which reminded me of confectionery; similar to the smell one gets on opening a box of chocolates. It was also a Christmassy smell which would make this product particularly suitable as a Christmas gift. It is the scent of this John Masters Body Milk which distinguishes this product from the many other similar products on the market, although, perhaps disappointingly, the scent did not linger on the skin. The John Masters Orange and Vanilla Body Milk is described as a ‘body milk’. I was expecting a thin, milky fluid, but in fact, it was quite a thick lotion which stayed on my hand when I held it upside down. I wondered why the product is not described as a body lotion. Even when applied to the skin, it retains its lotion consistency. The John Masters Organics Body Milk absorbed quickly (although whether this was more quickly than its predecessor, I am unable to say) and it left my skin feeling soft. I would not, however, say that the moisture level was outstanding, nor did it last any longer than other products which I have used. The bottle claimed that the product was ‘perfect for use all over your body’. I would add ‘from the neck downwards’; I did not try it on my face.
General Comments I did like this John Masters Body Milk and I have liked other John Masters Organics products which I have tried. I do feel that there is a slight exaggeration in the product description. I was, perhaps, at a slight disadvantage in having a small, trial size bottle, as presumably, the full-size bottle would come with more information displayed on the packaging. I believe that the full-size bottle is a different colour, with a pump applicator. There are many natural body lotions on the market and in performance, this John Masters Body Milk is really not much different from the rest; what gives this product the edge is its unique fragrance – even if it doesn’t leave one feeling euphoric!

John Masters Citrus Detangler Reviews

Review of John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler
By Christine C.

This John Masters Citrus Detangler is presented in a distinctive brown bottle the same as other John Masters products. I must admit that when I first saw these products on Naturisimo I actually thought they were for men. The packaging is very masculine in appearance.
The directions for this John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler are clear and straightforward. It is the same as any other hair conditioner.
The product feels more like a lotion than a cream. This means it’s quite runny and comes out of the bottle easily but you have to be careful not to lose it in the shower! It also means that this John masters Organics product easy to apply and I found it worked through my hair quickly and evenly. You can leave this product on as a leave-in conditioner for very dry hair which I didn’t need to do but I did leave it on for 2-3 minutes.

John Masters Citrus and Neroli Detangler feels creamy but light during application and even when fully applied doesn’t disappear. John Masters Citrus Detangler rinses away easily and quickly, leaving not residue. The fragrance is very subtle only faintly lemony. I must admit there was little scent left on my hair once dried, however, that’s not really important if the product works.

I loved how this John Masters Organics Citrus Detangler left my hair, especially for such a lightweight formulation. I’ve never had problems with tangled hair so that isn’t where I saw the greatest improvement although my hair was detangled. My hair dried much smoother and shinier before using any other products or straighteners. Any frizz and all the little hairs that can sometimes stick up along my parting were gone. Amazing! I usually still have to apply a finishing product to calm bits down, even if I’ve used a serum or straightening cream.

As far as I can see there is no downside to using John Masters Citrus Detangler. My annoyingly wavy hair was much improved in terms of its manageability and I’ve always assumed I needed a ‘richer’ product to do that. Some people might not like the lack of fragrance if they like to smell a product on their hair after using it, but with these results, that didn’t bother me.

Whish Pomegranate Body Wash Reviews

Review of Whish Pomegranate Body Wash
By Zainab C.

Packaging
This Whish Pomegranate Body Wash comes in a plastic tube with a snap shut lid which ensures control of how much gel is dispensed. The tube has a design which is quite simple but tasteful and fun. The plastic tube was made of 30% recycled material but in my opinion this could have and should have been higher.

Application
The Whish product was a nice pink coloured gel and felt like most other shower gels. It also lathered up quite well, going on smoothly. It was a pleasure to use as the smell was very fruity – not overpowering but pleasant. Whilst using the Whish Pomegranate Body Wash, I could tell straight away that it was less drying than conventional shower gels. At the same time, the body wash felt cleansing and refreshing. I was able to use this body wash and not have to moisturise afterwards, which was a bonus.

Ingredients
The Whish Pomegranate Wash is sulfate, paraben, DEA, TEA and petrochemical free. This is surprising as the results were impressive as the body wash lathered, cleansed and moisturised the skin exceptionally well. It was quite difficult to understand what some of the ingredients were – it could be useful to have a simplified version of ingredients in brackets like some other brands do. My only other concern was that perfume was an item on the ingredients list and this may not be suitable for others with very sensitive skin.

Results
The overall result was that my skin was left, cleansed, refreshed and moisturised. The Whish Pomegranate Body Wash was a pleasure to use as it smelled gorgeous and functioned well.

Pros: The gorgeous smell of this Whish Body Wash
It was cleansing and refreshing with enough ‘foam’
It was moisturising enough to not have to use body moisturiser afterwards
Cons: The ingredients listed perfume which may not be suitable for sensitive skin
It was difficult to know what some of the ingredients listed were
The packaging could have been more eco-friendly

John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler

Review of John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler
By Lara R.

Packaging
This multipurpose John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler
comes in a sleek plastic bottle that would look good on any bathroom shelf.

Application
I have fine long curly hair that sometimes feels dry and tends to get frizzy on wet or humid days. I like to wash my hair everyday so I been using the same shampoo and conditioner for years (Aveda Shampure in case you wonder) because of its gentle formulation.

I was so pleasantly surprise when I open the John Masters Detangler. It smells truly wonderful, a mix of uplifting neroli and citrus aromas. Also it has a rich but lightweight formulation so you just need a small amount and runs easily through the hair. You can either leave in or rinse off after the recommended 1- 3 minutes. This John Masters conditioner is also recommended for coloured hair.

I also decided to tried it on my three year old daughter who has very fine hair that tangles very easily. She loved the smell and it was very easy to distribute on her hair.

Ingredients
This John Masters Organics Citrus Detangler is certified organic by EcoCert / QAI and is not tested on animals. It does not contain Sodium Laureth sulfate or parabens which are very common on most high street shampoos and conditioners. The ingredients are a mix of natural vegetable oils, proteins and vitamins to restore strength and shine. Pantenol, wheat amino acids and lot of oils (jojoba, coconut, sunflower) nourish and protect the hair whilst essential oils of lemon, neroli, grapefruit give this conditioner its lovely uplifting aroma.

Results
The smell of this John Masters Organics detangler is the first thing that makes you fall in love with. But the results are just as great. This conditioner leaves my hair feeling soft, silky and bouncy. Not much frizziness on wet days either. It definitely moisturizes the hair.

It worked really well on my daughter’s hair which I usually struggle to detangle. And I loved the fact that her curls were not weighed down. Neither she or me experienced any itchiness to the scalp or skin, so I think its suitable for the small ones in the family as well.

I would recommend this product to anyone and I’ll have no problems swapping my regular conditioner for this one.

Pros:
Beautiful smell
Detangles without weighing down hair
You just need a small amount
Despite its lightweight feel is very rich and concentrated
Hair feels silky and bouncy
Suitable for the whole family

Cons:
It may be too expensive for every day use.

John Masters Organics Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo

Review of John Masters Organics Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo
By Joanna E.

Packaging:
The John Masters Organics Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo comes in a dark brown plastic bottle with silver lettering and a very useful ridged cap making it very easy to open with wet hands. The plastic bottle is made from PET 1 plastic which does make it recyclable, but perhaps not in every area. Apparently the bottle is also bio-degradable, but I found that out from the Naturisimo web site

Application:
A very clean aroma of rosemary with undertones of lavender, the John Masters Lavender and Rosemary Shampoo is a bronze colour and not too thick a consistency, making it easy to get out of the bottle. My hair is quite thick and our water is on the hard side, so I did need to use a good teaspoon sized amount of shampoo to make it lather well. I wash my hair each day and after only a couple of days, my hair felt and looked very soft and smooth. The shampoo is very gentle and my hair certainly felt the benefit – seems a lot shinier than usual as well.

Ingredients:
The ingredients of this John Masters product aren’t listed on the travel size bottle, so I checked on the Naturisimo web site, which has a complete list. It is an impressive menu of various oils and extracts, including lavender and rosemary, but also such as horsetail, comfrey and chamomile. The lathering ability comes from decyl glucoside which is kinder to hair. It doesn’t contain the harsher sodium lauryl sulphate, which does mean that this shampoo won’t lather as much, but I found it performed just as well with the gentler lathering.

Results :
After using the John Masters Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo each day for the past week, my hair seems shiny and quite soft. It is a lovely, gentle shampoo and the travel size would last for a good couple of weeks, making it ideal for taking on holiday.

Pros:
Improved condition of hair

Cons:
Would be nice to have the ingredients listed on the travel sized bottle

Pai Skincare Macadamia & Rose Dry Skin Cream

Pai Skincare Macadamia & Rose Dry Skin Cream
By Marion P.

The first impression of the packaging of this Pai Skincare product is that it is transparent with a clear view of the contents. On opening the jar the soft smell of rose is immediately a pleasurable experience. The white coloured cream is rich, but not sticky to the touch.

On the first application of the Pai Skincare Macadamia & Rose Dry Skin Cream
to my face I only treated the driest areas, which rapidly absorbed the little I had put on. For a full face and neck application I found that it suited my skin to use small dots of cream over the whole surface and gently pat in with my fingertips. After several days the areas that had previously felt dry and tight were softer and more comfortable, which was the most enjoyable benefit.

Once the dryness was combated I found that I preferred to use a lighter moisturiser during the day, and used this Pai Skincare Macadamia and Rose Dry Skin Cream as a night cream to nourish and moisturise during sleep.

Before using the cream on my face I had tried a test patch on a particularly dry area on my arm. This absorbed quickly and left no greasy residue which may have affected clothing I would be therefore happy to use this Pai Skincare Macadamia and Rose Face Cream on any area of the body [using the manufacturer’s recommendations] that was particularly dry and uncomfortable. Only small quantities are required for effective treatment so it is not extravagant in use.

Whish Pomegranate Body Shave Cream

Review of Whish Pomegranate Body Shave Cream
By Taryn G.

Packaging
The Whish Pomegranate Body Shave Cream comes in a pink and white cylindrical plastic container, with a pump design which releases the cream. The packaging has the recycle symbol on it.

Application
When I first used the Whish product, I thought the cream was going to be thick and hard to shave with, but in fact it was the other way round. I found it easy and quick to use because none of it evaporated, unlike some brands which do that. It was also easy to wash off any excess cream. The cream was white in colour and felt soft and fluffy to touch but when it came to applying the cream to my legs it was smooth like whipped cream.

Ingredients
They use some organically grown products in the Whish Pomegranate Shave Cream which you can smell when you use the cream, which I love because I know I’m not putting any man made chemicals on skin. The ingredients were put on the outer packaging in English.

Result
After using the Whish Pomegranate shaving cream my legs felt soft, clean and moisturized. When I’ve shaved my lags I always need to put moisturizer on after but with this product I didn’t feel the need to. Over the next few days my legs were still smooth and soft and I didn’t get any irritation unlike some brands I have used. I will definitely buy and use it again.

Pros:
Leaves my legs feeling soft and moisturised
Smells fresh without being over the top
Uses natural/organic ingredients which you can smell
Easy to use pump

Cons:
You can’t open the container to access the pump, so you won’t be able to clean it, if it was to clog.
After the first use, I had to pump it a few time to get the cream out

Review of Primavera Energizing Body Wash Ginger & Lime
By Barb A.

Packaging
The Primavera Energizing Body Wash Ginger & Lime comes in a regency green plastic tube with an easy to open black flip top lid. There is not any additional cardboard box as Primavera uses less packaging to help preserve the Earth's resources.

Application
I applied the Primavera Ginger & Lime Body Wash onto an exfoliating body mop and massaged onto my body. My senses where immediately awakened with the sharp zingy, zest of ginger and lime. Only a small amount is required as it lathers perfectly and rinsed away easily when I had finished.

Ingredients
100% natural organic and certified natural Primavera personal care, which requires stringent farming and fair trade practises. Ingredients are not tested on animals, totally cruelty free. It feels good to know I am using an ethically sound product which is 100% natural. No harsh chemicals are used which could dry out my skin or damage the environment. I loved the fragrant citrus aurantifolia (lime oil) and zingiber officianale (ginger) root oil.

Barefoot Botanicals S.O.S Face & Body Cream

Review of Barefoot Botanicals S.O.S. Face & Body Cream
By Catherine J.

Packaging
The Barefoot Botanicals SOS Face & Body Cream comes in an easy to use attractive looking white tube which is inside a cardboard box with the same detail as the tube and is from a renewable source.

Application
The Barefoot Botanicals SOS Rescue Me Cream was really easy to apply and absorbed easily into my skin without leaving that sticky feel that you sometimes get with intensive moisturizers. It had a lovely aroma which I smelt as soon as I opened the tube and once it was on my skin could still be smelt a few hours later. It wasn’t too heavy for my face and left it feeling really moisturized even when I had been outside all day in the garden.

Ingredients
This Barefoot Botanicals product states on the packaging that there are no chemical nasties and has 100% ethically sourced, plant derived ingredients. Borage Oil, Shea Butter and Evening Primrose Oil are blended with Calendula, Burdock and Mahonia to soothe irritation and rehydrate seriously parched skin.
I was pleased to see that even though it is full of natural ingredients the best before date was in 18 months time, however if you are using it every day it won’t last anywhere near that long!

Results
I am really pleased because after using the Barefoot Botanicals SOS Face and Body Cream for two weeks the improvement in my eczema, particularly the rough red patches on my legs is amazing. My skin is much softer and whilst the rough red patches haven’t gone completely they are definitely much smoother and the redness has completely gone. I don’t like using steroid creams as my eczema isn’t itchy, just unsightly and I have spent a fortune on lots of different creams in the past but none have worked as effectively as this, it really is a miracle in a bottle. I will certainly be buying this in future, it is worth every penny!

Pros:
It has a lovely fragrance.
It has dramatically improved the appearance of my skin and the redness has completely disappeared
Attractive packaging

Cons:
None at all

Green people Aloe Vera Shower Bath

Review of Green people Aloe Vera Shower Bath
By Janine F.

Packaging
The Travel/Trial Size Green People Aloe Vera Shower Bath comes in a small plastic squeeze tube without ay superfluous extra layers of packaging.

Application
The texture of the Green People Aloe Shower Bath is very smooth and not too thick. It has a light pleasant fragrance. When applied in the shower, it is a pleasure to apply. It felt like massage oil at first, it gently foamed and cleansed. I found that it cleaned thoroughly without drying, leaving the skin on my body feeling very soft not dry, as with most shower gels or greasy like the cream washes. It did not irritate the slightly chapped and extremely dry skin on my hands,

Ingredients
Green people Aloe Vera Shower Gel has none of the harsh chemicals that bother me, parabens, phenoxyethanol, alcohol, or fragrance. The ingredients label is straightforward, shown in Latin and English so that you know what exactly they are. The Aloe Vera powder, lavender oil and olive oil, which soothe and protect sensitive skin, are organically grown.

Results
After using the Green People product, although I did find that it was not suitable for use on my face, my husband and I were impressed. I thoroughly recommend it. I haven’t got any irritated, flaky skin or psoriasis. Although it is quite expensive, it is worth the money for such a good product. I will definitely buy it again.

Pros:
It cleans my skin well and is not drying.
It is pleasant smelling but not too strong.
It is excellent for sensitive skin, especially if your skin is a little bit dry.

Cons:
It is a little expensive
The tube could be fiddly to handle in the shower.

Weleda Wild Rose Cleansing Lotion

Review of Weleda Wild Rose Cleansing Lotion
By Elizabeth O.

A long time fan of the well known Weleda body and dental care lines, I was excited to learn that I would be trialling a Weleda facial skincare product. This excitement soon gave way to scepticism however when the item arrived and I opened it to find a Weleda Wild Rose Cleansing Lotion with claims to gently cleanse and purify the skin. Somewhat perturbed by this as my rather temperamental oily/combination/blemish prone skin was more accustomed to battling harsh cleansers and grainy exfoliates, I began using the product with a far from open mind. Searching for fault where I could I was desperate to dislike this cleanser but actually now find myself to have been converted!

Weleda Rose Cleansing Lotion is a creamy textured cleanser with a somewhat fluid consistency. Requiring only a small amount it smoothes over the skin with ease and rinses away effortlessly though at first it is tempting to use more than is necessary as it produces little to no foam action nor does it feel particularly rich. It has a heavy wild rose fragrance (free of synthetic components), which lingers on the skin slightly and I initially presumed this would be a case of scent over substance but was pleasantly surprised to find my skin appeared lightly moisturised and felt soft and comfortable immediately after use as opposed to taut and dry.

The packaging of this Weleda product is pretty but girly due to its vibrant pink and gold colouring and consists of a glass bottle with screw top lid which comes contained in a box emblazoned with information and a leaflet inside which contains even more.

As I have very reactive skin and tried this product at the height of a break out I was impressed to find that over time it got to work on spots helping to calm and dry mine out gradually. It reduced the unwanted sheen my skin normally adopts by lunchtime and appeared to slightly clarify my overall complexion by the end of my trial sized bottle, giving me a fresher brighter look. Though geared towards more mature and drier skin types, this is a product that is clearly suitable for a range of skin types as my twenty-something year old volatile face seemed to get along with it just fine and relished the reassuringly gentle ingredients which are all natural, free from animal testing and suitable for vegans. As it’s priced within a credit crunch friendly margin it’s definitely worth a try as even I as sceptical as I was at first would consider repurchasing the Weleda Wild Rose Cleanser in the future.

Pros:
Appeared to work well on my oily/combination skin type.
Used sparingly it still provides a thorough cleanse.
Effortless to use.

Cons:
Wild rose scent if adverse to it.
Consistency may take some getting used to.
If you find foaming cleansers desirable this may not be for you
Dispensing mechanism – screw top lid.

Jurlique Moisture Replenishing Day Cream

Review of Jurlique Moisture Replenishing Day Cream
By Dorothy R.

Packaging
Jurlique moisture replenishing day cream comes in a recyclable tune inside a recyclable box, with a very pretty flower design.

Application
The first thing you notice when you apply the Jurlique moisture cream is the wonderful floral fragrance. The cream applied very smoothly and easily. It has a very rich texture and leaves the skin feeling soothed and softened. The only down side is that the skin does not absorb it completely and, even after several hours, it leaves a slightly greasy residue on the surface. For that reason, I would probably be more inclined to use it as a night cream, or when my skin is exceptionally dry.

Ingredients
This Jurlique replenishing day cream contains a wide-ranging selection of plant essential oils known for calming and moisturising the skin, including calendula, chamomile, rosehip and avocado. The fragrance is wholly natural, from flower extracts, as are the preservatives. The ingredients are listed by both their Latin and English names. They are almost wholly plant extracts, but the cream does also contain beeswax and honey.

Results
It left skin feeling soft and smooth and smelling wonderful.

Pros:
An excellent moisturiser.
Easy to dispense from the tube, so no wastage.
No artificial additives.
A natural floral scent.

Cons:
The texture of this Jurlique product is a little heavy for day use or for skin which is not very dry.
The scent may be a little strong for some people.
It is not suitable for vegans as it contains beeswax and honey.

Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream

Review of Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream
By Zainab C

Packaging
The Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream comes in a recyclable aluminum tube from a recycled box. The design on the packaging is simple, easy to understand and tasteful.

Application
The Jurlique Exfoliating Cream had an unusual texture which was surprising, as it was not what I expected after seeing the packaging which was so elegant, but the texture was not unpleasant. The cream did not look very appealing as it had red fragments, which can be disconcerting. The Jurlique cream smelt like a mixture of creamy oats and Rose Geranium and this was sometimes a bit strong for me. The recommended method of application is to wet hands, apply the cream onto the hands to create a paste then press it onto the face. I found that although this method worked well, the Exfoliating cream was more effective when used in upward circular motions, as you would with other exfoliators. The Jurlique cream felt very gentle on the skin and I did not feel like my skin was being scratched the way some other exfoliators feel. The Exfoliating cream left my skin feeling very clean, but still supple and nourished.

Ingredients
The Jurlique Daily Exfoliator’s main ingredients are oats, almonds and honey, which are known to nourish and gently exfoliate the skin. The majority of the ingredients used in the Exfoliating cream are either organically grown or from biodynamic farms but the product is not 100% organic. However, Jurlique does not use parabens, which is reassuring.

Results
The Jurlique exfoliating cream exfoliated effectively and gently and left my skin feeling clean, refreshed and supple. It was non-drying and suitable for my combination skin. Although it did not look or smell amazing the product did deliver good results.

Pros:
A really deep clean feel
Very gentle, so suitable for everyday use
Non drying – skin felt nourished and supple afterwards

Cons:
The smell was sometimes too strong
The appearance of the cream was not appealing
Ingredients were not 100% organic

Green People Mum & Baby Moisturiser Lavender

Review of Green People Mum & Baby Moisturiser Lavender
By Kate F

Lightly fragranced with lavender, the Green People Mum & Baby Moisturiser Lavender has a creamy feel but when rubbed on the skin, feels more like a lotion. On applying a bean sized amount of Green People moisturiser to each arm my skin felt slightly sticky, but, after 30 seconds changed to a smooth and silky feel.

I found the scent of this Green People Mum & Baby Lavender Moisturiser disappears after an hour or so which I think makes it extra suitable for babies. I used the cream on my baby granddaughter but her skin is so soft already she didn’t really need it.

However, saying that, it would be perfect to use after her bedtime bath as the light lavender scent would help sooth her to sleep. I really liked this Green People Lavender Mum & Baby Moisturiser and used it on my face as an under makeup moisturiser and because of the fast absorption I didn’t have to wait longer than 30 seconds to apply my mineral powder foundation.

The packaging of this Green People Lavender Moisturiser is really attractive; printed in beautiful bright colours and clearly lists all the ingredients.

All in all this is a very nice moisturiser and in my opinion perfect for mum and baby.

Green People Gentle Tone

Review of Green People Gentle Tone
By Joanna E

Packaging: The packaging is quite iconic and instantly recognisable. The Green People Gentle Tone comes in a plastic tube with nozzle and a very clever ridged lid, making it easy to open. The outer card box is recyclable anywhere, but the recyclability of the plastic tube itself would depend upon local facilities.

Application : Having previously only used alcohol based liquid toners, to now try a gel based non alcohol one was a very different experience. This Green People toner does not dry out skin at all, but enhances hydration which left my skin feeling very soft. I’ve used this for 2 weeks now, just once a day and there has been a definite difference in my skin, which does seem much softer and showing fewer tiny lines. I didn’t use it round my eyes, but on my neck and the rest of my face, using about a pea sized amount and first stroking then patting it into my skin. Being gel, I did have to leave the Green People Gentle Toner for about 30 seconds to sink in before adding my moisturiser on top. It doesn’t feel sticky at all and is absorbed really well into the skin. The aroma of chamomile and rose geranium is quite delicate, which is good, rather than being overpowering and it is quite an uplifting aroma.

Ingredients : This has a high ratio of organic ingredients, as I would expect from Green People products and their policy of strictly avoiding all the harsh chemicals makes their products trustworthy. This particular product is certified by the Vegan Society and also 10% net profit from all their products is donated to various charities.
The ingredients are listed in both Latin and English, and also states which are used as the natural preservatives, so you can see exactly what you are getting. It has a shelf life of 12 months which is more than long enough to use the full sized product – this small size would last about 4 weeks making it ideal for travelling.

Results : After using this once a day for 2 weeks, my skin does feel much softer and more hydrated, so I would definitely buy this again.

Pros : A definite improvement in my skin and a lovely aroma

Cons : None that I have found.

Weleda Wild Rose Day Cream

Review of Weleda Wild Rose Day Cream
By Debbie O

The first thing that I noticed about this Weleda wild rose cream was the strong scent. I really liked it because I love the smell of roses but it could be off putting if you don’t. The scent is very authentic and it made the experience of applying the cream pleasurable for me.

The texture of the Weleda Wild Rose Day cream is very light and it is easily absorbed into the skin, which is ideal for a day cream. This feature also made the application of a mineral foundation straight afterwards very easy which is a real advantage.

I had enough of the Weleda product to test it over a 14 day period, every morning’ and I found that it was very hydrating for my skin. I was also very pleased that my skin felt soft and moisturised all day long. The Weleda Rose Day cream came in a tube which made it very easy to dispense and easy to pack in my make up bag when I went away for a few days. I really liked this product and have already bought another. Even though it does not have anti aging properties everyone needs to hydrate their skin so I will continue using it in conjunction with other more age specific products.

I was also delighted about the price when I went to buy some more. This Weleda face cream is an excellent hydrating face cream. Very good value!

Trevarno Almond & Cocoa Butter Body Lotion

Review of Trevarno Almond & Cocoa Butter Body Lotion
By Sue B.

I like the general appearance of the bottle and label of the Review of Trevarno Almond & Cocoa Butter Body Lotion, as there is no illustration to distract the eye. The first word of the text informs you that it is organic, which to me is very important - no searching through the text. The white text is clearly visible and the font is easy to read. The blue brand name of Trevarno is less obvious but with the Internet address on the label you can find out more about the company if you wish. On closer inspection the number 1 recyclable bottle and number 5 recyclable lid continue the ethos of being environmentally friendly.

The palm sized bottle of the Trevarno body lotion with its easy, one handed, flip top lid, enables use without leaving the product on the outside of the bottle.

The Trevarno almond and cocoa butter body lotion is an off white cream with a rich, smooth texture. On smelling the lotion out of the bottle I was unsure whether I liked the smell but, once applied to the skin, the fragrance changed completely. Once warmed during application it gave a clean, fresh nutty smell, although not overwhelmingly almond.

The Trevarno almond and cocoa lotion was quickly absorbed leaving no greasy residue, just soft, smooth, moisturised and fragrant skin which lasted for about 30 minutes therefore enabling you to apply your favourite perfume if you wish. Unopened the lotion would last a further 10 months, but once opened it should be used within six months, which wouldn’t be a problem, you’d need another bottle long before that if you’re using it every day. Being suitable for all skin types everyone can enjoy this product!

Logona Age Protection Moisture Treatment Mask

Review of Logona Age Protection Moisture Treatment Mask
By Taryn G.

Packaging
The Logona Age Protection Moisture Treatment Mask comes in a brown recyclable box, which then contains four separate sachets. There are two treatments per sachet. It is a new and different design which is easy to open.

Application
When I first opened the sachet I thought the Logona Moisture Mask was going to be thick and hard to put on to my face, but in fact it was the other way round. I found it easy and quick to apply to my face, the cream was white in colour and felt thick to touch but when it came to applying the cream to my face it was smooth. I left the cream on for 20 minutes as instructed, it reminded me of a spa treatment and the Elemis brand. I found it easy and quick to wash off because most of it had soaked into the skin.

Ingredients
Logona use some organically grown products which you can smell when you use the cream, which I love because I know I’m not doing any damage to my skin. The ingredients were put on the main packaging in English and it didn’t have that many on there which made it quick and easy to read if you were in a shop and in a rush.

Result
After using the Logona age protection mask my face felt soft, clean and refreshed the same as a facial at the spa but in the comfit of your own home. The next day my skin was still smooth and I didn’t need to put my daily moisturizer on.
I will definitely buy it again.

Pros:
Leaves my skin so soft I didn’t need to use as much moisturizer
Smells fresh e.g. orange, herbs and lavender without being over the top
Uses natural/organic ingredients which you can smell
Easy to open the packaging

Cons:
The use by date was printed incorrectly on the outer packaging which could confuse someone
Very hard to find the English instructions

Logona Wrinkle Therapy Fluid

Review of Logona Wrinkle Therapy Fluid
By Kath A.

Packaging:
Logona Wrinkle Therapy Fluid comes in a bronze coloured tube with gold writing which does look quite classy although also like a foundation! It has a blue box on the packaging which says 'Age Protection' which is quite off putting and made me think it was for older people although I do actually need it!
This Logona product also has the 'Oko Test' seal of approval which is the German mark of a quality product.

Application:
When I squeezed out the Logona wrinkle fluid it was a rather alarming yellow colour and smelt floral but also a bit medicinal which made me think it must be an effective product as it certainly wasn't a pampering one! I have found the smell quite off-putting as I have used it but that may just be me!
The fluid itself is quite light but stays on the skin with a rather sticky feeling and is not quickly absorbed, although this does seem to give a long lasting effect.
I applied it at night and my skin still felt dewy and soft the next morning which is quite amazing! It has been recommended as a good base for make-up but as it remained on the skin it was rather hard to apply powder effectively!

Ingredients:
The ingredients in the Logona wrinkle therapy are extensive, including a variety of oils such as Seed Oil and Soybean Oil and many flower extracts - this may account for the strong scent! It is one of the most effective moisturisers I have ever used and it certainly shows that synthetic products are not necessarily better!

Results:
It is still early days but it does in fact seem to make my skin appear brighter and more radiant. My fine lines seem to have been plumped out and my skin feels soft and well moisturised. The tube says that the cream 'treats the full range of skin ageing issues' and it has been called 'a miracle cream' so prolonged use may indeed bring amazing results!
Logona Wrinkle Therapy Fluid is quite expensive but would definitely be worth the money if it continued to bring radiance and reduce lines, and a little cream goes a long way. I'm not sure if 39 is too early to try anti wrinkle creams but this was a bit of a revelation to me!

Pros:
1) Long lasting moisturising effect
2) Brightens and seems to irradiate the skin
3) Plumps out fine lines and can be used on the neck

Cons:
1) Strong, quite unpleasant smell
2) Is not quickly absorbed but this may be a benefit!
3) Can feel rather sticky on the skin

Weleda Wild Rose Day Cream

Review of Weleda Wild Rose Day Cream
By Rachelle S.

This beautiful Weleda wild rose day cream is a lovely product for every day use; giving you a taste of luxury that every woman deserves!

Containing rosehip seed oil which re hydrates dry skin, improves elasticity and reduces scar tissue, this Weleda day cream is absorbed quickly and easily into the skin.

A little goes a long way and it doesn’t take long to realise that you need less than you think. You apply the Weleda wild rose cream after cleansing and toning the face, neck and chest area by gently massaging into the skin with your fingertips. It turns your morning ‘chore’ into a treat!

You feel like you are really caring for your skin when using this product and if your skin is sensitive this cream soothes, cools and heals as it is absorbed without any trace of irritation.

The Weleda cream has a delicate scent; which I love. I don’t like overly scented products and it is quickly absorbed which means you can apply make up without having to wait.

The cream has a great texture; smooth and soft and it disappears into your skin as if it was meant to be there all along! It’s like a beautifully whipped product which your skin just drinks up gratefully.

This Weleda product comes in an aluminium tube with plastic cap which is inside a cardboard box. Inside the box is a paper leaflet telling you about the Wild Rose facial care range. Recycling and reducing landfill waste is one of my passions, so after using this product all you are left with for landfill is the plastic cap – the rest of the packaging can be recycled.

It is fairly easy to get the product out of the aluminium tube, but invariably you are left with some product stuck at the end, just like a toothpaste tube. You can carefully cut open the tube and get at least two more applications from it; so it’s worth doing to prolong your enjoyment of this product!

Weleda Wild Rose Facial Toner

Review of Weleda Wild Rose Facial Toner
By Linda B.

I had high hopes for this product as Weleda is such a leading name in organic products and I was not disappointed. The container with its deep pink label will adorn any dressing table or bathroom shelf. When I opened the container of the Weleda wild rose facial toner, the subtle scent of roses was so fresh and invigorating yet relaxing at the same time. It is a very delicate scent and it is so nice to know it is from natural sources as are all the other ingredients.

It was easy to dispense the right amount of Weleda toner onto the cotton wool and when I applied it to my face it felt soft and refreshing. It is the most gentle toner I have used and is very effective at removing the residue left after using my cleanser. I applied it a second time but this was not necessary. It did not leave my skin feeling tight with an unnatural shine which other toners can do.

My skin felt soft, supple and “balanced”. My normally greasy t zone and dry patches on my cheeks were evened out, my skin felt clean and fresh and was prepared for applying my serum and moisturiser. I would recommend this Weleda rose toner to anyone especially if they have sensitive skin.

Green People Gentle Tone

Review of Green People Gentle Tone
By Janine F.

The Green People toner was light in texture and easy to apply. You only need a little of this product, it goes a long way and it is quickly absorbed into the skin giving a refreshing feeling.

The Green People Gentle Tone has a lovely scent of rose geranium, which made it a real pleasure to use. It also contains marshmallow, camomile and rosemary extracts. I applied it after cleansing using my usual face wash and followed with the moisturiser I use every day. I found this product hydrating. My skin felt healthier and not as dry as usual when I had used it.

After using this Green People product for several days my dry and slightly sensitive skin feels better. It is less dry and looks clear and calm. The slight redness on my cheeks appears reduced. I like this product and think it is great to use after a face wash.

The packaging was simple and practical and I found the tube handy. The Green People gentle toner is free of parabens, lanolin, colourings and alcohol. It felt mild and gentle and caring on my skin. I would defiantly recommend it to others. I also like the fact that green People give 10% of the profit to charity.

Primavera Body Line Aroma Body Scrub

Review of Primavera Body Line Aroma Body Scrub

By Cath J.

The description on the Primavera Body Line Aroma Body Scrub said “Stimulate your senses and shape up your body with the revitalizing Aroma Body Scrub. Juniper Berry and Seaweed jumpstart metabolism. Non-abrasive beads of Jojoba wax gently remove dead cells. Cell-renewing Apricot Kernel Oil leaves the skin soft and supple.” At the start of a particularly challenging week at work I was definitely in need of some extra stimulation to get me going in the morning, so I was hopeful that this Primavera body scrub would leave me feeling invigorated and raring to go. I have to say I was not disappointed, it smelt gorgeous and the beads of Jojoba wax were just the right size. I have tried many body scrubs and find that a lot of them have large abrasive grains which are quite harsh on my skin, so I was pleasantly surprised at how gentle this Primavera body scrub was. I even tried it out on my face, as it is easier to have fewer bottles in the shower, and found it worked even better than my normal face scrub.

The Primavera product lathered up well and the aroma intensified as you massaged it into your skin. The bathroom smelt divine and it definitely helped wake me up in the morning.
After using it for a week my skin felt lovely and soft and whilst I haven’t used it for long enough to see if it helps shape up my body it is such a lovely product to use that it would be an added benefit.

The Primavera packaging is pretty standard for a body scrub, a plastic tube with the logo on the top third with the remainder clear so that you can see the body scrub through the packaging.

Inika Vegan Lipgloss

Review of Inika Vegan Lip Gloss

By Irene W.

This is a cute little Inika lip gloss. The tube is small enough to fit into a purse or pocket enabling you to carry it around all day so that you can touch up your lips at any time. The colour of this Inika Lipgloss is a deep raspberry pink and although I don’t normally choose darker shades of pink this one is a transparent gloss which looks so good. This vegan lip gloss glided on to my lips effortlessly leaving a luminous shine which gave my makeup a polished finished look. The only downside is that as with any other lip gloss they don’t last very long on me and as soon as I eat or drink it has disappeared. One of my favourite tricks though is to put a pale matt lipstick on first which acts as a base and then the lip gloss lasts longer. As Inika are a company that are ethical and only use natural and non toxic ingredients you can feel safe in the knowledge that you are not harming your body. The container itself is simple and ordinary looking but I think that is probably because it is taken from a set of lip gloss. I would definitely buy this product.

Inika Vegan Lipgloss (£19.99) and other Inika products are available from Naturisimo.com
